RUSH CHAMPIONSHIP GAME 2011

     What an exciting season for the Rush this year.  This is the first time the Rush has made  it to a championship game.  Steele was so fortunate to be a part of such an amazing coaching staff and a great group of boys I hate to see the season end.   I'm so glad Steele was able to experience the excitement of a championship with announcers and scoreboards.   Although they did not win, they all  need to be so proud of themselves for doing something that no team has done since Pahrump has been involved in Pop Warner.  It was so hard so see the tears and disappointment on the boys faces.  Thanks to all the players and coaches for making us such proud Rush parents!!!!

     This summer has been great.  We were able to get up to Duck Creek and the ocean this year.  We had fun fishing, bike riding, relaxing, and visiting with some old work friends (it's a given when in Duck Creek you are bound to run into someone from Vegas).  We also went to the Ocean.  We always stay at Paradise By The Sea RV Resort in Oceanside. We have been going to the same location for 15yrs.  It is family owned and is located right across the street from the beach!!  The owner played for Stanford and the Houston Oilers.  Steele really enjoys talking to him about football.  We enjoyed the luau night with limbo contest and the movie night outside.  There are always a ton of kids there for Steele to play with.  Everyone from the park goes to the same area of the beach so the kids really have a great time.  It is fun for Steele to see some of the same kids from previous yrs.  They play baseball, football, and ride their bikes and scooters all over the park.  My highlight each trip is walking up to the Mexican market to buy their  guacamole, salsa, and carne asada yummm.  Steele tried surfing for his first time this year and did very well. After the first day Sedona really began to enjoy the water which meant no sitting and relaxing for us.  Steele, Brian and I enjoyed boogie boarding together and getting pummeled by the waves.  It was great to have grandma and grandpa there to help out with Sedona.  This year we met a family whose brother plays for the Chicago Cubs and resides in Vegas during the off  season.  I'm trying to recruit him to come out to Pahrump to talk to the little league team this spring.  I look forward to many more memories to come at Paradise by The Sea RV Resort.

Steele had such a great time at the UNLV Football Camp this year.  He loved having his cousins Nik and Mike watch him every day.  The head coach Bobby Hauck and his staff did a great job with the kids.  They got to experience the weight room and watch game tapes just like the players.  It was also great for the kids to practice on the field while the college players did their conditioning.   Steele was so jazzed to have coach Hauck be the QB for his team.  Steele caught some heat from the other coach when he intercepted his pass lol.  I hope next year we can round up some Rush and RMC players to represent Pahrump Football.

Wrestling Season Ends

                                                   

     The season came to an end this weekend.  I have learned so much this wrestling season and have really come to love the sport.  Being down on the mats is an environment that is filled with passion, disappointment, tempers, and tear.   The one on one competition is so intense.  It has been so great for Steele to do a sport where it entirely depends on his will and ability to succeed.   So many different scenarios are thrown at these kids and I can only hope this has helped build his character.  I hope there will be many more years of wrestling to come.  Every Saturday for  3 months we have seen the same 8 boys wrestling from different teams and have met some nice people.   A few of these boys will move with Steele in weight and we look forward to seeing them next year.

9 MONTHS

     Sedona turned 9 months so we did a Valentine's Day theme.  We really should leave it up to the professionals, but we have fun trying set up the scene and get the shot.  She is really maturing and starting to get a voice of what she likes and dislikes.  It is so funny to see her yell when she is mad and squeal in delight.  Steele especially loves it when she crawls after him and squawks at him.   Every night she follows us to his room at bedtime and listens to him read.   She just loves to go to the window and see her dogs.  When they ignore her man does she ever hoot and holler.  One night I took her away from the window to give her the bottle and boy did she cry.  Now every night we have to say good night to the dogs and shut their light off so she doesn't throw a fit when it is  her feeding time before bed.

     This tournament by far was the most stressful for me.  It was definitely his hardest so far.  Came so close to getting pinned, but some how pulled out a win.  They had a great opening ceremonies where the teams got to run through the fog and streamers and the song "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor"  blasting on the speakers.  We spent 9 hours (yes I said 9) there waiting and watching.  He has had 4 tournaments with a total of 14 matches and is 14-0!!  I think that makes it harder to watch knowing he may be due for a loss.  Not sure how I am going to make 18+ yrs of sports.    I will either have an anxiety attack, emotional breakdown, or a whole head of gray hairs.

     We took this picture the day it was snowing.  I know it looks like a white background, but it is the snow covered ground.  We entered  this picture into the Super Bowl Baby Contest.  We'll have to see what happens.  She will be supporting her dad this Sunday as they face off against the Jets. 

SNOW DAY JANUARY 2011

     It was such a nice surprise to wake up to so much snow.  I had all intentions of going into work even got up and got all ready.  I just kept looking outside at the snow falling and decided I couldn't miss out on a fun day with the kids.  Life is to short to always to  be responsible all the time.  We had great snowball fights and enjoyed taking the 4-wheeler out to check out all the snow.  It was great to see everyone out playing.  Steele and I decided to have a great football game.  I wish I would have thought about it earlier to get some people together for a real game.  For some reason these days make me want to bake (and eat) so we did (homemade chocolate chip cookies).  I guess I will start eating better tomorrow! lol
